Boat without a title..??? - sounding boats for sale

My husband has a boat from a friend, no titles, had said he was lost. The boat sat in our parking lot. A man came and said he wanted the boat. He said there was no way that a title search may have. Took the boat. it has a title search and found the boat was never registered their age since 1978. Now the guy wants my husband to sign a purchase contract. something happen to him, as did my husband tax, taxes on the boat. So the man who wants to buy the boat of life in a state where no personal property tax. This means that my husband lives with them. not. We live in a state that has no taxes on personal property. Is this fish? Then the man spoke with the boat will take us to court? We never had the title, either - the boat was never registered with us. We said that we only bring back the boat .. But he really wants to sign a contract to the man. What should we do?
